Fishing Report

November started off with a BANG! With a few steady weeks of great fishing here in southern California. The weather was awesome with highs in the 80’s and clear skies.

It all started with a last second trip to lake Perris with a repeat client. We got to the lake around mid day to fish the afternoon, rolled up to the first spot and were greeted with a fish in the boat within the first couple casts. I knew right then it was going to be a good afternoon. We ended up putting 40 bass in the boat with the biggest being around 4 Lbs. Most of the fish were caught on reaction baits which made for fun fishing.

The following week I had a full day guide trip with a client from Seattle visiting California for the weekend. Come to find out, he grew up in Southern California and had fished lake Perris when he was younger out of his float tube. He was pretty keen to get back on the water and was even more keen to break his previous Personal best which was a respectable 4Lb largemouth bass. We got to the lake bright and early for the morning bite and it was definitely worth it! We hooked up right away with a few topwater blow ups! Then all of the sudden boom, he’s hooked up with his new PB! With some subtle guidance he was able to finesse a fat 5 pounder into the net.

Feeling accomplished he went on to put 60 other bass in the boat! Yeah thats right a 60 fish day! Those are often hard to come by around here so we were both at a lost for words.

BUT THE REAL FUN HAD ONLY JUST BEGUN! The last hour of the day ended up being magical. He was able to put together a 25+ pound 5 fish limit of bass and break his Pb again with an absolute tank 6.3lb. bass! Two personal bests in one day… so cool.

The following weeks were filled with trips averaging in the 20-30 fish range. All up until an early season storm rolled through and slowed the fishing down for the time being. I think the cooler temps shocked the bass a little bit but I’m looking forward to getting back out there this week as temps have risen back up and seem to be stable for the time being.

Check back in the near future as i will be trying to update these fishing reports as often as i can in-between trips.
